“Journey of Empathy: Navigating Shadows and Seeking Solace”

In the vast expanse of our online connection, I am fortunate to have a cherished friend residing in Delhi, while I dwell in the vibrant city of Hyderabad. I have developed a deep understanding of who she is, including her food preferences, sleep habits, and even her favorite dishes. Yet, within this treasured bond, I carry a bittersweet secret, shielded from the prying eyes of her own family.

Behind her radiant smiles and infectious laughter, conceals a soul weighed down by unseen burdens. Unknown to her loved ones, her father’s relentless battle with alcoholism has cast a dark shadow upon her heart. She pretends and hides her tears, but it is in moments of being alone that her true sorrows are revealed.

Now, beset by relentless storms, she finds solace in the refuge of her room, her haven of vulnerability. Night after night, She finds solace in binge eating”, She looks for comfort in the temporary happiness it provides. Sleep, once a peaceful embrace, has now become a hard-to-find friend, leaving her trapped in the overwhelming struggle of insomnia.

She struggled to wake up, and witnessing a young girl suffer was profoundly painful. I intimately understood the agony she felt, having gone through my own battle with depression. During those difficult times, I longed for someone to talk to, to hold my hand, to embrace me tightly, or simply reassure me that everything would be alright.

As she poured out her heart to me during our phone conversations, I could feel the weight of her struggles. For the past three months, I had put forth immense effort to help her find hope and regain strength. Being by her side made me realize how our perspective can become clouded when we’re in the midst of suffering. Each day, I encouraged her to take small steps forward, starting with something as simple as staying hydrated. At the beginning, she would only take a few sips of water. To address this, I shared that I too was focusing on staying hydrated and suggested we share pictures of our water bottles after drinking. She even agreed to take part in drinking challenges. Gradually, I was able to help her establish a habit of drinking enough water.

She shared with me that she felt an improvement after starting her day with two glasses of water. The progress was gradual, but she noticed that gazing at the sun after waking up helped her feel more alert and less sleepy throughout the day.

I have been instrumental in facilitating small changes in her routine like hydration, sun gazing, breathing exercises, gratitude practice, mindfulness moments, and self-care rituals. While her problems may not be completely resolved, she has gained a little more strength to face them. these small habits have made a significant difference in her overall well-being.

Yesterday, she made the decision to start practicing yoga. However, she couldn’t bring herself to do it, so she lied to me, claiming that she had completed the practice. But after some time, she texted me, confessing that she hadn’t actually done it.

Interestingly, I felt happy about her honesty. It was a relief to see that she didn’t deceive me and instead chose to be truthful. Her decision to be honest and transparent gave me a sense of trust and strengthened our bond. Knowing that she saw me as a trustworthy person brought me joy, as it affirmed that she had confidence in our relationship and believed in me

Thank you….
