Communication is key

“I was on a drive with my dad, and everything was going perfectly—the music, weather, and minimal traffic were all in harmony. My mind was at peace, savoring the moment.

As my dad made a U-turn, I suddenly heard a loud thud. It immediately struck me that we had made a mistake. Ignoring it, my dad asked me to check the extent of the damage—a large crack on the car. As I inspected the damage, I noticed the driver who had bumped into us was now chasing after us.

Filled with anxiety, I hurriedly got back into the car and explained to my dad that the person was approaching us. Just as we were about to start the car, a tall and well-built man knocked on my dad’s window.

Fear gripped me. Would he confront us aggressively or perhaps involve the police?

But then, within a few seconds, I heard his words:

“I’m sorry. I was looking at the other side of the road and didn’t notice your car.”

-the defence guy who bumped us

I stood there, perplexed. Then, a smile slowly spread across my face. I mean, here was a person from the defense, who without considering the consequences, humbly apologized.

That’s when it struck me—the profound importance of an apology.”
